Extreme Cold
Fenix Headlamps - Our Products For Freezing Environments.
In extremely cold conditions most batteries have an exceptionally hard time maintaining capacity and the ability to deliver stable performance. In our product range we offer 2 options to enhance performance as the temperature drops.
Primary Lithium batteries provide better power output and capacity in extremely cold environments. The use of CR123 primary batteries or Lithium L91 AA primary (non rechargeable) batteries allows the reliable use of headlamps in much lower temperature surroundings. Our Fenix HL50, HL55 and HM50R models are compatible with CR123 primary batteries.
An alternative method is to use a battery pack which can be carried inside clothing to keep it warmer and avoid the extreme cold issue. Fenix HP30R is a powerful, versatile headlamp that fits into this category with a rechargeable battery case (with swappable 18650 batteries) connected by extension lead to the head lamp unit.
